EPA’s Risk Management Program and OSHA’s Process Safety Management standard address chemical-accident prevention under different authorities, scopes, and records. A shared equipment list or CMMS plan cannot decide which program applies or merge their accountable duties.
ISO 55002:2018 provides guidance for applying ISO 55001 asset-management-system requirements. Its public scope spans all asset types and organizations; it does not prescribe a universal preventive-maintenance task list, inspection interval, work-order design, or safe operating decision for a particular asset.
The public ISO record frames software for acquiring, processing, communicating, and presenting machine condition information. It does not prove input quality, diagnosis accuracy, configured interoperability, or the right maintenance action.
The 2024 guidance places culture, awareness, competence, human factors, and the work environment inside the asset-management system. A training-complete flag cannot represent that operating record by itself.
ISO 55000:2024 provides the asset-management overview, principles, and terms. ISO 55001 carries the management-system requirements, so buyers should not treat a 55000 reference as certification evidence or a substitute for operating records.
IEC 60300-3-14:2024 connects supportability and support to reliability, maintainability, availability, performance, cost, and risk across an item's life. Maintenance software should expose those tradeoffs rather than reduce support to a spare-parts list.
For covered nuclear-plant structures, systems, and components, 10 CFR 50.65 centers monitoring on performance or condition against licensee-established goals. Effective preventive maintenance can change the monitoring path, but completed work orders alone do not establish that intended function is being maintained.

General condition-monitoring guidance starts with assets, failure context, measurement, assessment, diagnosis, action, and review—not with an algorithm demo.
Business management, process reliability, equipment reliability, organization and leadership, and work management form a wider operating model than CMMS feature coverage.
OSHA PSM ties covered equipment, procedures, training, inspection and test, accepted practices, deficiency correction, and quality assurance into one controlled program.
